Within the attendance of the Mr. Busek, Special Coordinator of Stability Pact, Mr. Mildon, President of Chamber of Regions of Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe and Representative of OSCE, Mr.Bekes as well as representatives of diplomatic missions in Croatia and representatives of European and US Foundations, President of the Republic of Croatia Stjepan Mesic has opened The Founding Session of the Association of Multiethnic Cities of Southeast Europe.
Conference took place in Zagreb, Republic of Croatia, on Wednesday July 6th 2005.
 
 
The founding the Association of Multiethnic Cities of Southeast Europe is one of the most important aspects of realization of the Agreement on Interethnic Tolerance, which was signed by representatives of 38 Local Governments and 37 NGOs from seven countries of the Region of Southeast Europe at the conference “Tolerance and Understanding- above all” held on July 6th 2004.

In the meantime, five new cities and NGOs have signed the Agreement on Interethnic Tolerance, while fourteen cities and NGOs signed the Agreement on Interethnic Tolerance, as well as the Founding Act of the Association, on the conference.
